Yesterday we saw the presentation of the updated 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pro, alongside the new generation of Mac mini. All of these new machines come with great novelties that will definitely convince many apple growers to purchase them. If you are interested in the new MacBook Pro and would like to know more about it, then together in this article we will look at the 5 main novelties that it comes with.

Brand new chips

At the outset, it is important to mention that the new MacBook Pro offers a configuration with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. These are brand new chips from Apple that are manufactured using the second generation 5nm manufacturing process. While the new MacBook Pro with the M2 Pro chip can be configured with up to a 12-core CPU and 19-core GPU, the M2 Max chip can be configured with up to a 12-core CPU and 38-core GPU. Both of these chips then come with the Neural Engine of the new generation, which is up to 40% more powerful. Overall, Apple promises a 2% increase in performance compared to the original generation for the M20 Pro chip, and even a 2% increase for the M30 Max chip compared to the previous generation.

Higher unified memory

Of course, the chips also go hand in hand with the unified memory, which is located directly on them. If we look at the new M2 Pro chip, it basically offers 16 GB of unified memory, with the fact that you can pay extra for 32 GB - nothing has changed in this respect compared to the previous generation of the chip. The M2 Max chip then starts at 32 GB, and you can pay extra not only for 64 GB, but also for the top 96 GB, which was not possible with the previous generation. It is also important to mention that the M2 Pro chip offers a memory throughput of up to 200 GB/s, which is twice as much as the classic M2, while the flagship M2 Max chip boasts a memory throughput of up to 400 GB/s.

Longer battery life

It may seem that while the new MacBook Pro offers much higher performance, it has to last less on a single charge. But the opposite turned out to be true in this case, and Apple managed to do something that no one else has yet. The new MacBook Pros are absolutely unrivaled in terms of endurance, if we take into account their performance. The Californian giant promises a battery life of up to 22 hours on a single charge, which is the most in the history of Apple laptops. The new M2 Pro and M2 Max chips are therefore not only much more powerful, but above all also somewhat more efficient, which is an important factor.

Improved connectivity

Apple has also decided to improve connectivity, both wired and wireless, for the new MacBook Pros. While the previous generation offered HDMI 2.0, the new one boasts HDMI 2.1, which makes it possible to connect a monitor with a resolution of up to 4K at 240 Hz to the new MacBook Pro through this connector, or up to an 8K monitor at 60 Hz via Thunderbolt. As for wireless connectivity, the new MacBook Pro offers Wi-Fi 6E with support for the 6 GHz band, thanks to which the wireless connection to the Internet will be even more stable and faster, while Bluetooth 5.3 is also available with support for the latest functions, for example with the latest AirPods .

MagSafe cable in color

If you were to buy a MacBook Pro from 2021, regardless of the choice of color, you would receive a silver MagSafe cable in the package, which unfortunately does not go so well with the space gray variant. Even though it's a little thing in a way, with the latest MacBook Pros we can already find a MagSafe cable in the package, which corresponds in color to the selected color of the chassis. So if you get the silver variant, you get a silver MagSafe cable, and if you get the space gray variant, you get a space gray MagSafe cable, which looks absolutely cool, judge for yourself.
