Smartphones have undergone incredible development since their inception. Even ten years ago, we could not even imagine what they can help us with today. When we look at current iPhones, we can immediately see what they can actually stand for and what they can be used for. For example, the performance and quality of cameras have rocketed, for which it has long been no problem to record video in 4K, take perfect pictures even in poor lighting conditions, and the like.

At the same time, iPhones are displacing other home electronics and accessories and are trying to completely replace these accessories. This is of course related to the continuous development in the field of smartphones, which today serve as multifunctional devices capable of almost anything. Therefore, let's take a look at 5 functions of the iPhone that literally replace the aforementioned home electronics.

Scanner

If you needed to scan a paper document 10 years ago, you probably only had one option – to use a traditional scanner, digitize the document and get it to your computer. Fortunately, it is much easier today. All you have to do is pick up your iPhone, turn on scanning, point it at the paper, and you're practically done. We can then save the resulting file wherever we want - for example, directly to iCloud, which will then synchronize and get our scan to all other devices (Mac, iPad).

Although iPhones have a native function for scanning, a number of alternative applications are still offered. Both paid and free apps are available, which can surprise you with, for example, extended options, various filters and a number of other benefits that are otherwise missing in the native function. On the other hand, if we only need to scan like this once in a while, we can clearly make do with what the iPhone already offers us.

Weather station

Weather station is an important part of the household for many people. It informs about all important values, thanks to which we can have an overview of the temperature and humidity of the air at home or outside, about the weather forecast and other interesting information. Of course, with the growing popularity of the smart home, weather stations are also changing. Today, therefore, we also have so-called smart weather stations available, which can even communicate with the Apple HomeKit smart home. In this case, they can be completely controlled via phone.

Such weather stations then only serve as sensors, while the main thing - displaying information and analysis - happens only on the screens of our phones. Of course, the majority of users can do without it and will do well with the Weather application, which can still provide information on all the necessary aspects and something more. All based on specific location. In this regard, we can also count on the fact that the data will gradually improve to such an extent that buying a classic weather station will no longer make such sense.

Alarm clock, stopwatch, minute minder

Of course, this list must not miss the indispensable trio - alarm clock, stopwatch and minute minder - which are absolutely essential for people. While years ago we would have needed each of these products separately, today we only need an iPhone, where we just tap what we need at the moment. Today, it would be difficult to find a traditional alarm clock in someone's home, as the vast majority simply rely on their smartphone. On the other hand, the truth is that native apps in iOS providing these activities may lack some important functions and features. In such a case, however, there are a number of third-party alternatives.

iOS 15

Camera

As we mentioned in the beginning, smartphones have improved in recent years, especially in the field of camera. For example, such iPhones are today considered to be phones with the highest quality camera ever, and they can handle recording high-quality footage in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second without the slightest problem. Considering the current developments, it can be expected that quite big things are in store for us in the future.

For many people, the iPhone won a long time ago and was able to replace not only the traditional camera, but also the camera. In this case, we are talking about ordinary users who do not need to have photos and videos in the best possible quality. Of course, this is not the case with professionals, as they need first-class quality for their work, which the iPhone cannot (yet) offer.

House sitter

In a way, smartphones can replace even traditional baby monitors. After all, for this purpose, we would find several applications in the App Store that are directly focused on this use. If we then connect this goal with the concept of a smart home and the possibilities of phones, then it is more or less clear that this is not at all unrealistic. Quite the contrary. Rather, we can count on the fact that this trend will continue to expand.
