There are iPhones, Apple Watch and other products of the company, which it updates every year, even if they don't bring that much news in the final. And then there are those that he kind of forgets about. Below you'll find 5 Apple products that haven't been updated hardware-wise in over two years, but the company still has them in its lineup. Some are also quite successful.

However, the list does not include the previous series, which Apple still sells, even if they have their successors. This is mainly the iPhone 11 or the Apple Watch Series 3. This is also mainly about hardware, because on the software side, new functions can still be added to the products. E.g. such an iPod touch still supports the current iOS.

iPod touch

Apple last updated its iPod touch in May 2019, when it added an A10 chip and new 256GB of storage, making it nearly three years old. Its seventh generation retains the same design as the sixth generation model, including a 4” Retina display, a Surface button without Touch ID, a 3,5mm headphone jack, a Lightning connector, and a single speaker and microphone. The device is available in six colors, including space gray, silver, pink, blue, gold and (PRODUCT)RED.

Last year, Apple changed the design of its website, where you will practically not find a single mention of the iPod on the homepage. To do this, you have to scroll all the way down and look for the product label under the line. while we've already seen some rumors of a possible successor, they were more or less wishful thinking from various graphic designers. We don't have any concrete information or credible leaks in our hands, so it's quite possible that 2022 will be the last we hear about any iPod product.

Magic Mouse 2

The second generation Magic Mouse for Mac was introduced in October 2015 and is now more than six years old. In that time, this product has not received any hardware updates, although a woven USB-C to Lightning cable is newly present in its packaging. If you then buy a Magic Mouse with a new 24" iMac, you will also receive it in the color corresponding to the selected computer variant. However, so far this accessory has been derided for the point of charging it while you can't use the mouse. It charges on the bottom, which is why there have been calls for its update for years. So far in vain.

Apple Pencil 2

The 2nd generation Apple Pencil was released alongside the iPad Pro back in October 2018, making it four years old this year. Compared to the original generation, its key features are magnetic connection to iPad Pro XNUMXrd generation or later and wireless charging. Users can also switch between drawing tools and brushes in apps like Notes by double-tapping the built-in touch sensor. But where else could Apple take this product? For example, adding a button that would behave like the one on Samsung's S Pen and allow us to make different gestures with the Pencil.

The ultimate Mac mini

While the lower-end configuration of the Mac mini was updated in November 2020 when it received the M1 chip, the higher-end configuration with Intel processors has not been updated since October 2018. That is, except when Apple changed the storage capacity. However, a lot of information indicates that we will see a successor later this year, when the Mac mini could bury Intel and get M1 Pro or M1 Max, or M2 chips.

AirPods Pro

AirPods Pro were launched in October 2019, so they are almost two and a half years old. However, according to the often accurate analyst Ming-Chi Kuo Apple plans to launch the second generation of these headphones in the fourth quarter of this year. He also expects the new AirPods Pro to feature an improved wireless chip, support lossless audio, and have a new charging case that will be able to alert you with a sound when you search for it within the Find platform. After all, the case already received support for MagSafe charging at the end of last year, but it is still not a new generation product.
