It has not been news for some time that China is a very important market for Apple. This was most recently seen when public transport information was introduced into the Maps application, where only a few world cities and over 300 Chinese cities will be supported initially. Greater China, which also includes Taiwan and Hong Kong, is currently Apple's second largest market - for the first quarter of this year, 29 percent of the company's revenue came from there.

So it is not a big surprise when Tim Cook in an interview for the Chinese version Bloomberg Businessweek he declared, that the design of Apple products is partially influenced by what is popular in China. In the design of the iPhone 5S, for example, it was gold, which has since been extended to the iPad and the new MacBook.

Some other Apple activities in China were also discussed. In May, Tim Cook here among others visited school, where he spoke about the importance of education and the modern approach to it. In connection with this, his company is involved in the organization of more than 180 educational programs introducing children to the many functions of computers and mobile devices and teaching deaf children to use phones. Cook wants to increase the number of these programs by approximately half by the end of this year, with the goal of educating people capable of contributing to society.

During the interview, Tim Cook also revealed something interesting about the Apple Watch. These are said to be attracting more interest from developers now than in their early days, the iPhone or iPad. Developers are working on more than 3 apps for the watch, which is more than were available when the iPhone (500 with the arrival of the App Store) and iPad (500) were released.
