Apple introduced several new products yesterday, but at the same time one of its offers has definitely disappeared - iPod classic "announced" the end of its thirteen-year journey, which has long stood as the last Mohican with the iconic wheel and which was the direct successor to the first iPod from 2001. In the following images, you can see how the iPod classic has evolved over time.
2001: Apple introduces the iPod, which puts a thousand songs in your pocket.
2002: Apple announces second generation iPod bringing Windows support. It can hold up to four thousand songs.
2003: Apple introduces the third-generation iPod, which is thinner and lighter than two CDs. It can hold up to 7,5 songs.
2004: Apple introduces the fourth-generation iPod, featuring the Click Wheel for the first time.
2004: Apple introduces a special U2 edition of the fourth generation iPod.
2005: Apple introduces the fifth-generation video-playing iPod.
2006: Apple introduces an updated fifth-generation iPod with a brighter display, longer battery life, and new headphones.
2007: Apple introduces the sixth-generation iPod, receiving the "classic" moniker for the first time and eventually surviving in that form for the next seven years.
Everyone is full of Jobs, but they were not able to take a minute at the keynote to applaud the ending of the legendary line of iPods, the foundation of Apple touch products.
The iPod Classic is the immortal iPod. I use it almost daily and enjoy the luxury of having all my songs at hand thanks to it. The battery still holds up and it has withstood a lot of falls to the ground. I hope it will last me a long time, because something like the iPod Classic is unparalleled in the world of MP3 players. :)
"2004: Apple introduces fourth-generation iPod, first with Click Wheel."
it probably wasn't a click wheel
I have an updated white 80GB 5 and I can't stand the interface and design. Druhy classic is the last black model and even though it is noticeably faster, it has more capacity (160GB), the design of the 'split' screen in the menu and the recorded album artwork still bother me... if I just want to listen to music without distractions and not have a flashlight on my iPhone, I always pull out an iPod with a B&O H6, in my car the Griffin dock also works only with an iPod (iPhone 4s fits, but it's stupid and often makes noises because the device is not supported)
The iPod will always be a cult device, and the iPod + iTunes music store is definitely one of Steve's mega successes
The iPod Classic is simply a CLASSIC!
I have only one problem: does anyone know how to sort by INTERPRETER ALBA instead of the default INTERPRETER?
Thanks
