Whatever letter it could be. I have to take a good look at what has already been tried. What could be the word that is hidden on the board.

You probably put this and much more in your mind during the traditional leisure puzzle game, which is variously called the Gallows, the Hanged Man or the Executioner. The principle of this game is certainly obvious to everyone, it is a game for two or more players, in which you gradually try to reveal the hidden word, which is represented on paper only by the number of empty squares. If you guess wrong, the lines on the gallows are added until the figure is hanged.

Hang On is a Czech game that uses in its game concept the just mentioned rules of the classic Šibenice puzzle competition, while the Czech developers went much further and enriched the whole game with interesting elements and educational use. When you start Hang On, a fresh animated environment with a catchy melody peeks out at you and offers two game modes.

You have the choice of training or playing. For starters, to warm up your brain, I definitely recommend training, which offers you several thematic categories, which include, for example, animals, colors, music, clothes, sports, electronics, weather or the human body, in which you have the opportunity to train your vocabulary and logical reasoning, with several bonuses. You can choose the translation language for each category, so you can play not only in Czech, but also in English, Slovak, French, Spanish, German and Italian.

You choose the travel category, for example, and you immediately see empty boxes hiding the guessed word. Below them is the alphabet and you can start guessing. If you guess the letter correctly, it will immediately appear in the given box, and on the contrary, if you make a wrong choice, a mountaineer will gradually climb out of the upper part of the screen and hang himself on his rope after ten incorrect attempts. Either way, you will always see the chosen translation into a foreign language next to the guessed word. When I guessed the word "letenka" now, I also see the English translation "flight ticket". From an educational point of view, very practical and above all effective. You can easily enrich your own stock of foreign words in this way.

Once you feel that you have practiced enough, you can use the navigation arrows in the upper left corner to go back to the main menu and choose the second option, i.e. game. At this moment, you again have the option to set the language in which you want to guess the words, including the translation. So if you don't like your native language, you can guess words in Italian and choose English as the translation. In the game itself, you will then come across different words falling into different categories and industries that you might have seen in training. So once you will guess a word from the occupation category and then perhaps a fruit or a vegetable. I have to say that my success was not brilliant and I still have a lot to catch up on, my climber often hung upside down, but at least I practiced some foreign words.

Hang On also contains motivational and statistical elements of success in the form of percentages, which will gradually increase for each language as you become successful. At the same time, for each correctly guessed word, you will receive a picture of a climbing carabiner. The developers also thought of a form of verbal help, which you can easily choose in any game mode using the image of a stone with a question mark.

At Hang On, I like the idea of added value in the form of foreign languages, complete Czech localization and a very intuitive and pleasant environment. You can find the game in the App Store in a universal version for iPhone and iPad for less than one euro, there is also free version, which has ads in it and some parts of the training are locked.
