It's been rumored for several years, but it wasn't until today, 11/1/2011, that the rumor became reality. The American operator Verizon announced at a press conference in New York that it had reached an agreement with Apple to sell the iPhone 4. Until now, the phone had been exclusive only to the AT&T network.

"If you write about something long enough, eventually it will actually happen," said Verizon's Lowell MacAdam moments before the announcement itself. "Today we are partnering with the giant of the market, Apple."

The iPhone 4 will hit Verizon shelves in February, on February 10 to be exact. It turns out that Apple wasn't just relying on AT&T's contract and network. He has been verifying devices with Verizon since 2008 on more than one thousand test devices. The phone model that will be sold now has been tested for a whole year. On February 4rd, Verizon customers will be able to pre-order the iPhone 16, and anyone who does so will get priority when sales start. Prices will be as follows: 199 GB version for $32, 299 GB version for $XNUMX.

iPhone 4 for Verizon will be the same as the current one and actually completely different. The phone will not differ in most features. It will still carry an A4 chip, it will have a Retina display, Facetime... However, the fundamental difference is in the data network that the iPhone 4 will use at Verizon, because it will be a CDMA version. This required certain cosmetic changes to the body of the phone. The mute button has been moved and the gap between the antennas has disappeared. Using the new network brings two changes for users. The great news is that the iPhone can now be used as a WiFi hotspot for up to five devices. However, it is not pleasant that it will not be possible to make phone calls and surf the Internet at the same time, the network does not allow this.

According to the latest reports, the CDMA version of the iPhone 4 is running on the as-yet-unreleased iOS 4.2.5. A new function of creating a WiFi hotspot has just appeared in the system. Currently, the latest version available is iOS 4.2.1. Therefore, the question remains whether and when Apple will jump straight to iOS 4.2.5. A more fundamental update is expected, which should bring subscriptions in applications. It is possible that we will see it on February 10, when the iPhone 4 goes on sale at Verizon.

It was interesting that even a white version of the latest Apple phone appeared in the offer of the American operator for some time, but it seems that it was more of a mistake. Now only the black model is available in the e-shop again.
