In today's overview of historical events in the field of technology, we will recall one single, but significant event for Apple fans. Today marks the death of Apple co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs.

Steve Jobs died (2011)

Apple fans remember October 5 as the day when co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs died after a serious illness. Jobs died at the age of 56 from pancreatic cancer. He fell ill in 2004, five years later he underwent a liver transplant. Not only the leading personalities of the world of technology, but also Apple supporters around the world reacted to Jobs' death. They gathered in front of Apple Story, lit candles for Jobs and paid tribute to him. Steve Jobs died in his own home, surrounded by his family, and flags were flown at half-mast at the headquarters of both Apple and Microsoft after his death. Steve Jobs was born on February 24, 1955, he founded Apple in April 1976. When he had to leave it in 1985, he founded his own company NeXT, a little later he bought The Graphics Group division from Lucasfilm, later renamed Pixar. He returned to Apple in 1997 and worked there until 2011. After he had to leave the management of the company for health reasons, he was replaced by Tim Cook.
