In today's episode of the series on important events in the field of technology, we will once again remember the World Wide Web. Today marks the anniversary of the publication of the first formal proposal for the WWW project. In addition, we will also remember the presentation of the first working prototype of the Tablet PC from Microsoft.

Design of the World Wide Web (1990)

On November 12, 1990, Tim Berners-Lee published his formal proposal for a hypertext project that he called the "WorldWideWeb". In a document titled "WorldWide Web: Proposal for a HyperText Project," Berners-Lee described his vision for the future of the Internet, which he himself saw as a place where all users would be able to create, share, and disseminate their knowledge. Robert Cailliau and other colleagues helped him with the design, and a month later the first web server was tested.

Microsoft and the Future of Tablets (2000)

On November 12, 2000, Bill Gates demonstrated a working prototype of a device called Tablet PC. In this context, Microsoft has stated that products of this type will represent the next direction for evolution in PC design and functionality. Tablets did eventually find their place at the forefront of the technology industry, but only about ten years later and in a slightly different form. From today's perspective, Microsoft's Tablet PC could be considered the predecessor of the Surface tablet. It was a sort of intermediate link between a laptop and a PDA.
