Do you like listening to podcasts? And have you ever wondered where they came from and when the first podcast was created? Today marks the anniversary of the moment when the imaginary cornerstone of podcasting was laid. In addition, in today's installment of the series on significant events in the history of technology, we will also remember the founding of the Institute for Certification in Computing Technology.

The Beginning of Podcasts (2004)

Former MTV host Adam Curry launched an audio RSS feed called The Daily Source Code on August 13, 2004, along with developer Dave Winer. Winer developed a program called iPodder that allowed Internet broadcasts to be downloaded to portable music players. These events are generally considered to be the birth of podcasting. However, its gradual expansion occurred only later - in 2005, Apple introduced native support for podcasts with the arrival of iTunes 4.9, in the same year George W. Bush launched his own program, and the word "podcast" was named the word of the year in the New Oxford American Dictionary .
