It is relatively easy to create panic among people. How HG Welles' radio play The War of the Worlds did in 1938 will be part of today's installment of our "history" series. In addition to the radio War of the Worlds, today we will also remember the day when Microsoft launched its smart fitness bracelet called Microsoft Band.

War of the Worlds on the Radio (1938)

On October 30, 1938, the play The War of the Worlds by HG Wells, broadcast as part of a program on the American radio station CBD, caused panic among some listeners. Those who tuned in too late to miss the warning that this was fiction were horrified by reports of an alien invasion and their attack on human civilization.

Arrival of the Microsoft Band (2014)

Microsoft released its Microsoft Band on October 30, 2014. It was a smart bracelet focused on fitness and health. The Microsoft Band was compatible not only with Windows Phone, but also with smartphones with iOS and Android operating systems. Microsoft Bands were sold until October 3, 2016, when Microsoft also stopped their development. The Microsoft Band was initially sold only in the Microsoft e-shop and at authorized retailers, and due to its unexpected popularity, it was sold out almost immediately. The bracelet was equipped with a heart rate monitor, three-axis accelerometer, GPS, ambient light sensor and other elements.
