Do you know the name of the predecessor of today's well-known Wikipedia? It was the WikiWikiWeb website, which was the responsibility of the programmer Ward Cunningham, and whose anniversary we commemorate today. The First Wiki (1995)

On March 16, 1995, the WikiWikiWeb website was launched. Its creator, American programmer Ward Cunningham, invited all those interested to start adding their own interesting content to his website. WikiWikiWeb was intended to serve as a community database of various interesting facts and information. Wikipedia, as we know it today, was launched only a few years later. Ward Cunningham (full name Howard G. Cunningham) was born in 1949. Among other things, he is the author of The Wiki Way and the author of the quote: "The best way to get the right answer on the Internet is not to ask the right question, but to write the wrong answer." "

The Internet Goes Global (1990)

The National Science Foundation (The National Science Foundation) officially announced on March 16, 1990 that it plans to expand its network to Europe in the foreseeable future. Already in the mid-eighties of the last century, this foundation created a network through which it was possible to connect research institutes in mutually distant regions. The mentioned high-speed network was called NSFNET, in 1989 it was upgraded to T1 lines and its transmission speed was already able to reach up to 1,5 Mb/s.
