In today's part of our series on historical events in the field of technology, we will once again focus on Apple after a long time - this time we will remember how the iPhone 4 was launched. But we will also talk, for example, about the presentation of the first home video recorder, which iPhone 4 did not have a very bright future.

Demonstration of the first VCR (1963)

On June 24, 1963, the first home video recorder was demonstrated at the BBC News Studios in London. The device was called Telcan, which was an abbreviation for "Television in a Can". The VCR had the ability to record up to twenty minutes of black and white television footage. It was developed by Michael Turner and Norman Rutherford of the Nottingham Electric Valve Company. However, these particular devices were very expensive and could not keep up with the gradual transition to color broadcasting. Over time, parent company Cinerama ended funding Telcan. According to available information, only two pieces of this video recorder have survived - one is located in the Nottingham Industrial Museum, the other in San Francisco.

Launch of iPhone 4 (2010)

On June 24, 2010, the iPhone 4 went on sale in the United States, Great Britain, France, Germany, and Japan. The novelty boasted a completely new design, a combination of glass and aluminum, and an improved Retina display, cameras, and the Apple A4 processor. The iPhone 4 met with unprecedented sales success and was Apple's flagship smartphone for fifteen months. In October 2011, the iPhone 4S was introduced, but the iPhone 4 continued to be sold until September 2012.
