Monday's installment of our regular "historical" series will be dedicated to aviation and social media. In it, we will recall the first flight of a Boeing 707 from Los Angeles to New York, and in its second part, we will talk about the request of the French government to the social network Twitter regarding the personal data of users who spread hateful contributions.

First transcontinental flight (1959)

On January 25, 1959, the first transcontinental flight took place. At that time, an American Airlines Boeing 707 took off from the international airport in Los Angeles, the destination was the airport in New York. This four-engine narrow-body jet airliner was produced by Boeing in the years 1958-1979, and was widely used in passenger air transport, especially in the 707s. The Boeing XNUMX also played a significant role in the rise of Boeing.

Government vs. Twitter (2013)

On January 25, 2013, the French government ordered the management of the social network Twitter to provide it with the personal data of users who spread hateful posts and messages through it. The French court issued the mentioned order at the request of several entities, including the French student union - posts with the hashtag #unbonjuif, according to them, violated French laws on racial hatred. A Twitter spokesperson said at the time that the network does not actively moderate content per se, but that Twitter carefully reviews posts that other users report as harmful or inappropriate.
