In today's part of our regular series on important events in the field of technology, we will mention Apple again, this time in connection with the release of the revolutionary operating system iOS 7. But we also remember the arrival of NeXTstepOS under the banner of Jobs's NeXT.

iOS 7 is coming (2013)

On September 18, 2013, Apple released the iOS 7 operating system to the general public. iOS 7 brought a number of significant changes, especially in terms of design – application icons got a completely different look, the "unlock by swiping" function was added, or perhaps new animations. The Notification Center and Control Center have also received a change in appearance. Apple, together with the iOS 7 operating system, also introduced the AirDrop function for wireless sharing of content between Apple devices. CarPlay or the option of automatic app updates in the App Store also made its debut. iOS 7 was initially met with mixed reactions after its release, but ended up becoming one of the fastest-adopting operating systems, with 200 million active devices in its first five days.

NeXTstepOS Comes (1989)

Four years after his departure from Apple, Steve Jobs releases the NeXTstepOS operating system under the banner of his newly founded company NeXT. It was a Unix-based operating system, and at the time of its release was only available for NeXT computers with Motorola 68040 processors, a few years later NeXT began developing it for PCs with Intel processors as well. NeXTstepOS was a really successful and powerful operating system for its time, and Apple showed interest in it in the XNUMXs.
