Some events in the history of technology have great importance, there are others rather petty. In today's episode of our series, we remember both types. First, let's recall the launch of the branded retail network Apple stores, but we also recall a relatively recent one internet dispute, which forced many people listen to one word again and again.

Apple announces the arrival of Apple Stores (2001)

Apple Computer Company on May 15 of the year 2001 announced that it plans to launch chain operation their retail branded stores. The company director at the time Steve Jobs reported this news on special press conference on the second floor of the shopping center Tysons Corner Center. First two Apple Stories were opened by four days later – in addition to the branch in the mentioned Tysons Corner, it was a store in Glendale, California.

Laurel vs. Yanny (2018)

Terms History technology with the worldwide Internet "feud" Laurel vs. Yanny for sure does not write in textbooks, but here we present it as an example of an internet phenomenon, which in the short term, but all the more intensively a certain part lives users – similar in a way that internet users have become confused in the past for example, about which one color they have the dress in the photo. In May of the year 2018 a recording appeared on the Internet in which users they couldn't agree, whether a word was heard on it "Laurel" or "Yanny". Individual variants were voted on Twitter, Instagram i Facebook, and the web was soon flooded with various analyses, analyzes and instructions on how to hear the first or second variant. The recording of the word "laurel" comes from 2007 - Opera singer Jay Aubrey Jones he recorded it at his home as part of pronunciation samples for the web www.vocabulary.com.
