In today's part of our return to the past, we remember the premiere of the fourth episode of Star Wars, which took place on May 25, 1977. But we will also talk about another important event - the historically first international WWW conference in 1994.

Here Comes Star Wars (1977)

On May 25, 1977, the premiere of the film Star Wars (later Star Wars – A New Hope) took place, from director and screenwriter George Lucas' studio. The film was created under the wings of Lucas' company Lucasfilm, and 20th Century Fox took care of its distribution at the time. It was the first film from the original Star Wars trilogy, and at the same time the fourth episode of the "Skywalker saga". Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Peter Cushing, Alec Guinness, David Prowse, James Earl Jones, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker or even Peter Mayhew appeared in the film. On May 25, 1983, another episode from this cult saga saw the light of day - the movie Return of the Jedi (previously known as Return of the Jedi).

First International WWW Conference (1994)

On May 25, 1994, the first ever international WWW conference was held on the premises of the Swiss CERN. The whole event lasted until May 27, and its participants then set themselves the task of working on a strategy to expand and improve the original concept of the "father of the WWW" Tim Berners-Lee. At the time of the conference, many of its participants still viewed the Internet and the HTML language primarily as tools that could be used especially in the field of science and research, and few thought at the time how quickly and on a large scale the Internet would eventually spread throughout the world, and that the right to access connectivity will one day be discussed as something that should potentially be one of the basic human rights.
