Nowadays, fans of book sagas, movies or series meet mostly on social networks and discussion forums, and they don't go to official websites much anymore. However, this was not always the case, and fan pages and official websites of this type could boast of quite a large number of visitors. Today we will remind you of one such site - the Pottermore web portal. But we will also go back to 1993, when the PowerOpen Association was founded.

Formation of the PowerOpen Association (1993)

On March 9, 1993, an association called the PowerOpen Association was formed. The members of this association were Apple Computer Inc., Motorola Inc., IBM Corp. and four other companies. Among the goals of the newly formed association was the effort to promote new technologies used in the production of computer chips for next-generation personal computers. As part of the PowerOpen Association's activities, there was also, for example, compliance testing with the PowerOpen environment, which gave rise to hardware such as PowerPC.

A Site for All Potterheads (2012)

On March 9, 2012, author JK Rowling officially announced that Pottermore would be launched. The web portal, intended for all rock fans of the young magician, was originally supposed to be launched for the public already in October 2011, but it was not fully launched until the end of March of the following year. Visitors to this site had access to a number of virtual fan materials related to both the book series and the film adaptations. You could also find here various news and official reports, as well as behind-the-scenes interesting facts or unpublished texts. Although the Pottermore website was in English, some interesting articles were sometimes translated into other languages. Currently, the Pottermore website is no longer operational, but fans of the Potter saga can visit WizardingWorld.com.
