The emergence of the New Century Network (1995)
May 8 of the year 1995 a platform was established New Century Network. It was an Internet news aggregator founded by companies Knight-Ridder, Tribune Company, Times Mirror, Advance Publications, Cox enterprises, Gannett Company, Hearst Corporation, The Washington Post Company, and The New York Times Company. Each of them invested one million dollars in the platform, Lee de Boer became the CEO. The main New Century Network site - the NewsWorks site - was discontinued in February 1998.
