In today's part of our "historical" series, we will again mention the Apple company, but this time really marginally - we will remember the day when the Byte Shop, which sold the first Apple computers in the seventies of the last century, was launched. We'll also go back to 2004 when we remember the sale of IBM's PC division to Lenovo.

The Byte Shop Opens Its Doors (1975)

On December 8, 1974, Paul Terrell opened his store called the Byte Shop. It was one of the first computer retail stores in the world. The name Byte Shop is certainly very familiar to Apple fans - Terrell's store ordered fifty pieces of its Apple-I computers from the then-starting Apple company in 1976.

IBM sells its PC division (2004)

On December 8, 2004, IBM sold its computer division to Lenovo. At that time, IBM made a rather fundamental decision - it decided to slowly leave the market with desktop computers and laptops and focus more on business in the field of servers and infrastructure. China's Lenovo paid IBM $1,25 billion for its computer division, $650 million of which was paid in cash. Ten years later, Lenovo also bought IBM's server division.
