Entertainment is inherently part of technology – and entertainment includes various game consoles and virtual reality headsets. In today's installment of our series on major tech events, we'll be celebrating the release date of PlayStation VR, but we'll also be talking about the approval of the Prime Meridian at the Greenwich Observatory.

Greenwich Prime Meridian (1884)

On October 13, 1884, the observatory in Greenwich was officially recognized by geographers and astronomers as the prime - or zero - meridian from which longitude is calculated. The Royal Observatory in Greenwich has been operating since 1675, and was established by King Charles II. It was used for a long time by British astronomers for their measurements, the position of the prime meridian was originally marked in the yard of the observatory with a brass tape, since 1999 this tape was replaced by a laser beam, illuminating the London night sky.

PlayStation VR (2016)

On October 14, 2016, the PlayStation VR headset went on sale. During its development, the headset was codenamed Project Morpheus, and was used in conjunction with the PlayStation 4 gaming console. The image could be transmitted to the headset and at the same time to the TV screen. specifically for PSVR gaming. The headset was equipped with a 4-inch OLED display with a resolution of 5,7 pixels.
