A number of different scientific fields, including physics, are inextricably linked with the world of technology. We'll kick off the new week with part of our technology milestones series on the awarding of the Nobel Prize in Physics to Albert Einstein. But we also remember the release of the Mozilla Firefox 1.0 web browser.

Nobel Prize for Albert Einstein (1921)

Scientist and inventor Albert Einstein won the prestigious Nobel Prize for Physics on November 9, 1921. However, it was not for the theory of relativity, for which he is still so famous today. He was awarded the prize for his explanation of the photoelectric phenomenon, which falls within the field of quantum physics. Einstein was also honored for his contribution to theoretical physics. He did not receive the award until the following year - during the selection process in 1921, the commission decided that none of the nominees met the required criteria.

Mozilla Firefox 1.0 (2004)

The Mozilla Foundation released version 9 of the Firefox web browser on November 2004, 1.0. Firefox 1.0 offered better tab handling. Users had a choice of several options when it came to opening web links, the browser was also characterized by faster operation, an effective pop-up blocking function, rich extension and customization options or perhaps a download manager. Firefox 1.0 was also available in our country, and thanks to the cooperation with the CZilla project, domestic users received, for example, intuitive control in Czech or an integrated search for Seznam.cz, Centrum.cz or Google.com.
