The history of modern technology includes not only successes and great new inventions, but also failures and failures. Today's article will talk about one of these - it is an Apple commercial called "Lemmings", which unfortunately did not repeat the success of the previous "1984" even by mistake. In the second part of our article today, we will talk about the Happy99 computer worm.

Apple and the Failed Lemmings (1985)

A year after the highly successful "Orwellian" commercial called 1984, Apple presented a new commercial that earned the name "Lemmings". However, she did not achieve the success of the previous spot, on the contrary. It was considered a flop by experts and laymen alike because they felt it mocked the target audience. Like the 1984 spot, Lemmings aired for the first time during the Super Bowl. The clip showed a number of people in suits and blindfolds walking in the pattern of lemmings to the accompaniment of a distorted composition from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs down a rock, from which they immediately plunge down.

The Happy99 Worm (1999)

January 20, 1999: A computer worm named Happy99 first appeared. Spread through email messages, it initially appeared on the poor victim's screen as a colorful firework display followed by a Happy New Year wish. The Happy99 worm is considered one of the first waves of malware to hit personal computers running Microsoft's Windows operating system, and the damage was often time-consuming and expensive to repair.
