In today's brief overview of historical events in the field of technology, we will recall two very different matters - the birth of Michael Faraday and the day when an ad appeared on the auction server eBay, offering more than 200 kilograms of marijuana.

Michael Faraday (1791)

On September 22, 1791, Michael Faraday was born in South London - a scientist who became famous, for example, for the discovery of electromagnetic induction or magnetic and electric field lines. With his discoveries, Faraday laid the theoretical foundations for future inventions of the electric motor and dynamos. But Michael Faraday was also famous for the discovery of benzene, the definition of the laws of electrolysis or the enrichment of the technical nomenclature with terms such as anode, cathode, electrode or ion. He also lent his name to the Faraday cage - a device used to shield an electric field.

Marijuana on eBay (1999)

On September 22, 1999, one of the advertisers placed an ad on the well-known Internet auction server eBay, in which he offered for sale more than two hundred kilograms of marijuana. The price of this offer went up to 10 million dollars in the auction. It didn't take long, however, for eBay operators to discover and block the auction.
