In today's part of our regular series, this time we will remember only one single event, which is quite important. Today is the anniversary of the purchase of the rights to the 86-DOS operating system by Microsoft. We will also briefly mention the release of MS Windows NT 3.1 or the lunar eclipse.

Microsoft Goes to MS-DOS (1981)

About two weeks before IBM began distributing its first IBM PC, Microsoft bought the rights to the 86-DOS (formerly QDOS - Quick and Dirty Operating System) operating system from Seattle Computer Products. The purchase cost the company $50, and Microsoft renamed 86-DOS to MS-DOS after him. He then licensed it to IBM as PC-DOS. Seattle Computer Products later sued Microsoft for alleged fraud because it had not initially discussed licensing the software to IBM. The court ruled in favor of SCP, to which Microsoft had to pay one million dollars.
