Today's part of our return to the past will be completely dedicated to Apple, and in both parts of our article we will remember the end of a certain era. First, we recall the PowerBook 145 laptop, the sale of which was discontinued on July 7, 1993. In the second half of the article, we move forward a few years to commemorate the departure of Gil Amelia from the leadership of Apple.

Ends PowerBook 145 (1993)

Apple discontinued its PowerBook 7 on July 1993, 145. This particular model was a mid-range PowerBook, with the 100 being considered the low-end PowerBook, and the PowerBook 170 being the high-end. Similar to the PowerBook 170 the PowerBook 145 was also equipped with an internal 1,44 MB floppy drive. In addition, this Apple laptop was also equipped with a 25 MHz 68030 processor and was available with a 40 MB or 80 MB hard drive. The PowerBook 145 was equipped with a monochrome passive-matrix display, the diagonal of which was 9,8". Compared to its predecessors, the PowerBook 145 boasted a faster processor, more RAM and a larger hard drive. PowerBook 145 was succeeded by PowerBook 1994 in July 150.

Gil Amelio leaves Apple as CEO (1997)

On July 7, 1997, Gil Amelio officially ended his tenure as a director of Apple. After a long break, Steve Jobs took over the leadership of the company again, who immediately began to take the necessary steps to bounce Apple off the bottom. Under Amelia's leadership, Apple experienced one of its worst periods, suffering a loss of $1,6 billion. Gil Amelio has been a member of Apple's board of directors since 1994, and became its CEO in February 1996, when he took over from Michael Spindler.
