Today's part of our series called Back to the Past will deal mainly with game topics. We recall the patenting of the game cockpit by Atari, but also the first video trailer for the Nintendo Switch game console. We will also talk about the release of the Ubuntu 4.10 Warty Warhog operating system.

Game cockpit patent by Atari (1975)

On October 20, 1975, Atari patented its "game cockpit". The first game implemented for this device was the Hi-Way title with the tagline “Hi Way — All It Needs Is Wheels”. Over time, players had the opportunity to play a number of racing titles or various simulators in game cockpits of this type, among the very popular game cockpits from Atari is the Star Wars cockpit.

Ubuntu 4.10 Warty Warthog (2004)

On October 20, 2004, Mark Shuttleworth sent an email to the Ubuntu developers announcing the release of Ubuntu version 4.10 Warty Warhog. Since then, the Ubuntu operating system has been updated every six months, always bearing a funny name related to the animal kingdom (the Warty Warhog version was followed by the Hoary Hedgehog version). Support for Ubuntu 4.10 Warty Warthog ended on April 30, 2006.

Nintendo Switch on video (2016)

On October 20, 2016, Nintendo released a three-minute video showcasing the Nintendo Switch gaming console. At the time, the media reported enthusiastically about the hybrid game system, which will be able to be used both with a TV and with a smartphone. The Nintendo Switch hybrid game console was officially launched on March 3, 2017.
