The Atari gaming console is one of the legends. In today's installment of our "historical" series, we remember the arrival of the Atari 2600, but we also remember the day when the first photographic film was patented.

Photographic film patent (1884)

American inventor George Eastman was granted a patent for paper photographic film on October 14, 1884. Eastman's interest in photography was really great, and it didn't just stop at paper film. In 1888, Eastman received a patent for a lightweight portable camera that loaded roll film. He patented the Kodak brand, and in 1892 officially founded the Eastman Kodak Company.

Atari 2600 (1977)

On October 14, 1977, the Atari 2600 game console was released in the United States. At the time, the device was called Atari Video Computer System - also Atari VCS for short. The home game console was equipped with two joysticks, users could also use other types of controllers (paddle, driving) including a controller with twelve numbers. The games were delivered in the form of cartridges. The Atari 2600 console was equipped with an eight-bit 1MHz MOS Technology MOS 6507 processor, had 128 bytes of RAM, and a resolution of 40 x 192 pixels. The price of the Atari 2600 console was roughly 4500 crowns, it came with a pair of joysticks and cartridges with the Combat game. During 1977, approximately 350 to 400 units were sold.
