Among other things, the history of technology is also made up of new products. In today's part of our regular series called Back to the Past, we will mention two new devices - the Amazon Kindle e-book reader of the first generation and the Nintendo Wii game console.

Amazon Kindle (2007)

On November 19, 2007, Amazon launched its first e-book reader, the Amazon Kindle. Its price at the time was $399, and the reader sold out within an incredible 5,5 hours of going on sale - it was then only available at the end of April of the following year. The Amazon Kindle reader was equipped with a six-inch display with four levels of gray, and its internal memory was only 250MB. Amazon introduced the second generation of its readers less than two years later.

Nintendo Wii (2006)

On November 19, 2006, the Nintendo Wii game console went on sale in North America. The Wii was the fifth game console from Nintendo's workshop, it was among the seventh generation game consoles, and its competitors at the time were the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles, which offered better performance, but the main attraction of the Wii was control with the help of the Wii Remote. The WiiConnect24 service, in turn, allowed for automatic downloads of emails, updates and other content. The Nintendo Wii eventually became one of Nintendo's most successful consoles, selling more than 101 million units.
