Technology also includes entertainment - and game consoles are, among other things, a grateful source of entertainment. In today's installment of our series on historical events in the field of technology, we remember one of the most famous - the Nintendo 64. But we also remember the birth of Alan Turing or the launch of Reddit.

Alan Turing was born (1912)

On June 23, 1912, Alan Turing was born - one of the most important mathematicians, philosophers and experts in computer technology. Turing is sometimes called the "father of computers". Alan Turing's name is associated with deciphering the Enigma during World War II or perhaps with the so-called Turing machine, which he described in 2 in his article entitled On Computable Numbers, with an Application to the Entscheidungsproblem. This British native studied mathematics at Princeton University in 1936 and 1937, where he also received a Ph.D.

Nintendo 64 Comes (1996)

On June 23, 1996, the Nintendo 64 game console went on sale in Japan. In September of the same year, the Nintendo 64 went on sale in North America, and in March of the following year in Europe and Australia. In 2001, Nintendo introduced its GameCube console, and the Nintendo 64 was discontinued the following year. The Nintendo 64 was named "Machine of the Year" by TIme magazine in 1996.
