Commodore acquisition (1995)

On May 4, 1995, a German company named Ecsom AG acquired Commodore. The German company bought Commodore for a total of ten million dollars, and as part of this acquisition, it acquired not only the name, but also all the patents and intellectual property of Commodore Electronics Ltd. Considered one of the pioneers of the computer industry, Commodore went out of business in 1994 when it filed for bankruptcy. The company Escom AG originally planned to revive the production of Commodore personal computers, but eventually sold the relevant rights and the resurrection of the legendary brand did not happen.

The I Love You Virus Attacks Computers (2000)

May 4, 2000 went down in the history of technology, among other things, as the moment when the malicious computer virus called I Love You (“ILOVEYOU”) began to spread massively. The aforementioned malware spread to personal computers with the Microsoft Windows operating system, and it even took just six hours to spread around the world. It was spread via e-mail. According to available reports, approximately 2,5 to 3 million computers were infected during the spread of the I Love You virus, and the cost of repairing the damage was estimated at $8,7 billion. In its time, the I Love You virus was labeled as the fastest spreading and at the same time the most widespread virus.
