Jan Zdarsa We are beginning to be flooded with useful applications for use in our regions. One of the latest ventures is called Zlaté Stránky, and it does exactly what you'd expect – searching for phone numbers of residents and businesses.
Get ready for a lot of positives and don't wait for the end of the review, search for the app in the Appstore and download it right away. Golden Pages on iPhone looks sexy. It is a high-quality application with an emphasis on both design and the overall user environment. The authors did not want to release a simple application as quickly as possible, but they really wanted to use the capabilities of the iPhone to the fullest.
But let's slow down and take it from the floor. After starting (really fast) you will find yourself in a pleasant yellow environment, where in the bottom bar you will find navigation (Search for companies, people or opening help) and a search field appears in the upper part. You enter what you want to find and in the next field you can refine your search by address. If you do not enter anything here, the application will request a search based on your current location.
Even the search according to the current location is very fast, so you can very easily find the nearest restaurants. In this case, the results are sorted by distance. But take the distance as a guide only, because the application only uses data from the triangulation of the GSM signal to determine the location, which is logical, because otherwise it would take much longer to find the location and it would not be detected in the building anyway.
After clicking, you will see the exact address, phone number, map, website address or email. If the given company has more information about its activity in the Yellow Pages database, this information will also be displayed. When I talked about the perfect iPhone integration, I was talking about this screen. Just click on the phone number and you are calling. When you click on the map, you can view the company on the map directly in the application, as well as view the website directly in the application. Only the email is not written directly from the application, but you are switched to the Mail application.
But that's not all, there are other goodies in the application. For example, if you turn your iPhone to landscape in the search list, you will see these companies directly on the map in the form of pins. And when the search results aren't enough for you, just shake your iPhone and the app will start loading more search results. After clicking on the given result, you can also save the contact to the address book (everything will be added - from name, phone to website) or you can send it to someone by email. You will also appreciate the excellent whisperer for faster searches.
As you can see, I'm excited about the app. I love useful apps on the iPhone and I'm really glad that Mediatel didn't screw up the iPhone platform, for which I give them a big thumbs up. Hopefully there will be more applications of similar quality for use in the Czech environment, for example, I would really appreciate such an iPhone application with offline timetables.

It's nice, I just dropped it once while working with the map, but otherwise it looks good.
I also like it quite a bit, but the field for entering a query is a bit small and I can't delete the last search term in it.
There is also a version for Slovakia.
So, I admit that I tried, and in the course of about 5 searches, the application crashed twice...
is the version for Slovakia part of this application or is it another application???
I don't understand your enthusiasm. The application is rather below average. For example, it cannot be compared with AroundMe. I will summarize the (already mentioned) errors:
– falls (I don't have JB)
– a huge logo, but a miniature input field, a miniature selection of results (try to hit there with your thumb, for example, on a bus or tram)
– can't handle diacritics
– does not take the current position! by network triangulation (at least my 3G), but by the last saved "current location" from the GPS cache. Yesterday I was in Ostrava, today in Pilsen, today I haven't used Maps yet, so the Yellow Pages are now looking for everything near Ostrava. Catastrophe!
I will leave the application, but only for searching numbers of private persons. For services, AroundMe is significantly better.
