Don't forget to come to Jablíčkář.cz today from 19:00, where we have prepared for you a live broadcast from the special Apple press conference, which is supposed to concern the iPhone 4.
The press conference should really only address the iPhone 4 antenna problem, and people don't even expect Steve Jobs to appear on the scene. We expect more iPhone engineers and industry experts.
What scenarios are being speculated about?
1) Apple acknowledges the mistake and announces that the new iPhone 4 is being manufactured already modified. Current owners are advised to go to an Apple Store to exchange their iPhone 4 for a new one.
2) Apple will announce that anyone who bought an iPhone 4 can pick up a free Bumper case or will be giving away gift cards of some value (eg $50)
3) Apple will say that this is mostly a software bug that it is already working on. The first minor fixes will appear in iOS 4.1, but the modification will continue in the following period.
The last third scenario is also indicated by the fact that a similar comment appeared in The Wall Street Journal, which often receives "leaks" of information directly from Apple. So Apple may already be preparing users for tonight's announcement.
What scenario do you see most realistically? What do you expect? What solution would you most like to see?
I would prefer the soft error. I'm an apple fan and would hate for it to appear that they didn't test it enough before selling it. A software error will happen even to the best, that's why updates are almost everywhere today (I hope there are washing machines and refrigerators already) :-) If it was a HW error, it would probably cast a bad light on apple.
Agreed, that's why Apple throws it at SW :-)
I still don't understand how thousands of people claim that they have a better signal with iPhone4 than with 3G(S) and then there are thousands who say the opposite.. It's very strange.. After uploading iOS4 to 3G I started losing signal and O2 me sent text messages (even several a day) about missed calls. After yesterday's update to iOS 4.0.1, I haven't noticed anything like that yet. My experience with 3G suggests a sw problem, but what about the engineers at consumerreports.org - they say it's purely a hw problem!?
I recently had a similar problem with O2, the signal dropped quite often (iP 3gs) Now after the update I don't notice anything like that...
