Dutch accessory maker Zens has unveiled a wireless charger that works on a similar principle to Apple's canceled AirPower. Zens Liberty, as the charger is called, can wirelessly charge devices regardless of where they are placed on the pad.

The vast majority of current wireless chargers are pretty much the same, and even if they manage to charge multiple devices at the same time, they need to be placed in a designated place on the pad. This can be limiting in some cases, and in addition, if a specific place is not observed, the efficiency and thus the charging speed can be reduced.

After all, precisely because of the above, Apple decided to develop AirPower - a pad that could charge up to three devices at the same time, regardless of where exactly and in what position it would be placed. Due to production problems and failure to meet quality standards Apple was eventually forced to cut AirPower development. But Zens is now proving that a wireless charger with AirPower features can work, albeit in a slightly limited form.

Zens Liberty Wireless Charger:

While AirPower was supposed to be able to charge three devices simultaneously regardless of their position, Zens Liberty can charge two. But perhaps this is where the stumbling block was for Apple. AirPower was supposed to hide 21 to 24 coils overlapping each other, and the solution from Zens has only 16 of them and therefore should not cause overheating, which was allegedly the main problem of the charger from Apple.

A higher number of coils directly increases the power and the Zens Liberty manages to deliver up to 30 W wirelessly. Another 15 W is offered by the USB port located at the back of the charger, which can be used, for example, to charge the Apple Watch or any other device. The package will also include a USB-C adapter.

Zens will start selling its wireless charging pad in November. It will be available in two versions - Kvadrat and Glass. The first mentioned will cost 139 dollars (approximately 3 crowns) and will offer a surface made of 300% combed wool. The Glass version for $90 (approximately 179 crowns) will then represent a limited edition mat with a glass charging surface that will allow you to see the insides of the charger, i.e. all 4 coils.
