Filip Brož There are not many applications on our market that are focused on health monitoring and at the same time are completely in the Czech language. Try to imagine an application that collects all the data about the medicines you take, when you have your next preventive check-up with the district doctor or a complete medical record about past illnesses and many other functions related to your health. mVITAKARTA is an application that fully serves people who have their health insurance arranged with the Oborová zdravotní pojišťovna for employees of banks, insurance companies and the construction industry.
However, users who have their health insurance with other providers can also find use here. All you have to do, as I did when I tested the application, is to set up free access on the VITAKARTA ONLINE portal, or become an insured of this health insurance company.
The personal health records of each of us contain very sensitive data that can be easily misused. For that reason, the developers paid a lot of attention to the overall security of not only the application, but also the entire process of logging in and transferring security passwords. After registering in the online form on the insurance company's website, a registered letter with the password for the application will be sent to your home address. Only then will you be able to fully use all functions.
Similar to the PIN code, you only have three attempts at each login to the application, and any changes you would like to make to your documentation or personal data must be approved by an authorization message and by entering the appropriate code. So safety really comes first.
The application is divided into several areas. The first Vitakarta tab is also the home page of the entire application. Above all, you will find the SOS function here, which - simply put - can save your life if necessary. If you fill in all your personal data, the SOS button will send a message to, for example, a close person, you can call someone or just display all important health information. In practice, I imagine that I am, for example, an epileptic or a diabetic and I have a seizure somewhere on the street. So I press the SOS button, which automatically calls me for help or a person who can help me.
mVITAKARTA also contains so-called Areas in which you can find complete personal health documentation. Using intuitive icons, you can always move to the section you want to view or manage. Here you will find, for example, an icon for managing your medications, current condition, chronic problems, reported care, vaccinations, personal diary or health plan.
In practice, this means that you will see all your medical records from your doctors clearly in one place. For example, you know that you have to go for a preventive check-up after six months, so the application itself will notify you of the date when you should come, and then after the check-up you will see a complete note from the doctor in the application with all possible diagnoses, etc. I personally find it very practical.
Another option of the application is the communication function, which mainly stores all important contacts for your doctor, loved ones, or you can call the insurance company or the assistance service directly. The last function that the application supports is a very clear and interactive map of the entire Czech Republic, which clearly shows all doctors in your area who are contractual partners of the given insurance company, and other doctors. In this way, you can easily find any contact for all experts in case of emergency.
In terms of design, the application is quite good and very intuitive. I was very pleased with the security and privacy area where you really have to re-enter your password every time you start the app. What I have to criticize about mVITAKART, on the other hand, is the fact that if you are not insured by the given insurance company, you will have access to all items, but you will not see your health documentation unless you fill it out yourself. This is, of course, to be expected when the application is tailored to the needs of people with disabilities. If you are its insured, everything is done automatically.
