Apple stops selling the iPod touch. The Cupertino giant announced this today through a press release, in which it states that the entire iPod product line, which has been with us for an incredible 21 years, will be discontinued once the current stock is sold out. But as Apple itself states, the iPod will be here with us in some form forever - its musical essence has been integrated into a number of other products, from the iPhone to the HomePod mini or Apple Watch to Macs.

Moreover, the current move has been speculated for years and there were only two options in play. Either Apple will definitively end the entire series, as it honestly doesn't make any sense today, or it will decide to revive it in some way. But more people were leaning towards the first option. Moreover, this demise was a completely inevitable matter, which we all know about already some Friday.

Update frequencies hinted at the future of the iPod touch

If we think for a moment about all the speculations that have spread across the apple-growing community in recent years, it is enough for us to look at the frequency of updates of this last Mohican - the iPod touch. It was shown to the world for the very first time in September 2007. It was a relatively important device for Apple, which is why it initially updated it almost every year, bringing the next generation to the market. After the aforementioned year 2007, further iPod touch series came specifically in 2008 (2nd gen), 2009 (3rd gen) and 2010 (4th gen). Subsequently, in 2012, the fifth generation was born in a version with 32GB and 64GB storage, a year later with 16GB storage (model A1509) and in 2014 we received another 16GB variant with the designation A1421. Apple said goodbye to regular updates together with the sixth generation from June 2015 - we then had to wait until May 2019 for the next, namely the seventh generation. Practically, we haven't seen any changes for less than 4 years.

It was in 2019 that Apple brought us the last iPod touch, which is still sold today. However, as we mentioned above, as soon as it is sold out, its price will definitely disappear. Will you miss this legendary iPod, or are you more inclined to the opinion that Apple should have resorted to this step a long time ago?
