A few days ago, the iPad 3G went on sale in the US, specifically on April 30. It is estimated that up to 3 300G iPads could be sold during the opening weekend. Already on May 6, not even a week later, the iPad 3G is sold out, and there is also a very limited number of iPads in the Wi-Fi version.

So it is clear that the take-up is still high. Apple just can't keep up with the demand for iPads, and if you want to buy the 3G version, you have to subscribe to the "Notify Me" list, which will alert you when new units are in stock. If you don't register in advance, you don't have much chance to buy an iPad 3G in the near future. This, of course, applies to brick-and-mortar stores, but you can also order electronically, after which you will be informed of the date by which the shipment should possibly be delivered.

It will also be quite interesting how big the shipments will arrive in Europe, as the sales date there is already approaching. If Apple can't even keep up with demand in the US, I don't know how it wants to keep up in Europe. So it is clear that the iPad will be in short supply for some time to come.
