Apple is well known for its emphasis on minimalism. Whether it's accessories, packaging or the products themselves, the clean design is evident at first glance. A bold step in this direction was the absence of a 3,5 mm jack on the iPhone 7, which caused a considerable wave of criticism. However, the removal of the headphone jack now seems almost insignificant compared to the new product from Meizu. She recently showed the world her new Zero smartphone, which does not have a single physical button, port, SIM card slot and even a speaker outlet. The Meizu Zero has actually been available since yesterday, but the manufacturer is paying a lot for its premium quality.

The smartphone of the future

Recently, smartphone manufacturers have been trying to impress customers with all kinds of specials. Whether it's extremely fast charging, a higher number of cameras, a frameless design or a fingerprint reader in the display, they always have something new to offer. But Meizu has now raised the bar quite high and its new Zero model could be described as the smartphone of the future. It is the first truly wireless phone without a single port, speaker outlet, SIM card slot or physical button.

Charging and importing data into the phone takes place wirelessly, through a specially designed wireless charger from Meizu, which is included in the package, and which is capable of charging the phone with a power of 18 W (the fastest wireless charging in the world) and at the same time transferring the necessary data to it. The speakers are built directly into the display, into which the fingerprint reader is also integrated. Instead of a SIM card slot, Meizu Zero relies only on eSIM.

And where did the buttons go? They are here in a certain form, but only in virtual form. The edges of the phone are sensitive to pressure and can therefore be used to regulate the volume or wake up the device. Other control methods rely purely on elements in the Flyme 7 user interface, which is an Android superstructure. The ceramic unibody chassis is thus disturbed only by the microphones, although Meizu boasts that it is the first phone in the world without a single hole.

It also has its disadvantages

Even if everything seems really interesting at first glance, the Meizu Zero has a few disadvantages. First of all, the speakers integrated under the display will not be as high quality and loud as the classic ones used in today's smartphones. A certain obstacle is also represented by eSIM, which is still not supported by the vast majority of operators, for example only T-Mobile offers support here.

The price can be a certain obstacle for some. Meizu will pay for its futuristic smartphone. On the crowdfunding portal Indiegogo started offering Zero for a whopping 1299 dollars, which, after converting to ours and adding tax and all fees, makes the price around 40 crowns. Currently, 16 pieces out of a total of 2999 available have been sold. Pre-ordered pieces should arrive to customers during April this year. Assuming, of course, that the target $90 is raised. At the same time, Meizu also offered one unit with delivery already in January, the price of which, however, was 000 dollars (approximately XNUMX CZK after conversion and tax).
