Today, Apple started accepting pre-orders for the new fourth-generation Apple TV, and to the delight of Czech customers, this also happened in the domestic Apple Online Store. The fourth-generation Apple TV costs 4 crowns for the 890GB variant, or 32 crowns for double the capacity.
The new Apple TV was introduced in September along with the new iPhone 6S and iPad Pro, but Apple only started selling it now. Also for the sake of being on her prepared by the developers, because one of the biggest innovations of the fourth generation is the opening of the App Store for Apple set-top boxes.
In addition to third-party applications that will take the use of Apple TV to a completely new level, the fourth generation will also offer higher performance, a new controller that will make it possible to control Apple TV by voice (in the Czech Republic, due to the absence of Czech Siri, limited, possibly completely non-functional), but to available there will also be Bluetooth controllers. It will be easier to play with them, also a new element with which Apple wants to appeal to users.
According to Apple's website, first orders should arrive in 3-5 business days. You can order here. If you need an HDMI cable to connect the Apple TV to the television, you will have to pay an additional 579 crowns, because the connecting cable is not included in the package. But just use any other, HDMI-HDMI cable can be purchased from other sellers much cheaper.
What size should I buy?
So far, storage size has not been an issue with Apple TV. The third generation offered a single option, but with the advent of the App Store and third-party apps, the fourth generation comes with two storage options – who should get the 32GB model and who should pay extra for the 64GB option?
“If you usually only play a few games, use a few apps, and watch only a few movies or series, 32GB of storage should be enough. If you play a lot of games, use a lot of apps and watch a lot of TV series, you will need 64 GB,” summarizes in his analysis Rene Ritchie of iMore.
The key thing about the content on the new Apple TV is that most of it is stored in the cloud and is only downloaded to the device when you need it. At the beginning, for example you download a small application that requests additional data from the cloud only when needed. It's the same for photos or music, where everything is stored in the iCloud Photo/Music Library and the content is only downloaded on demand.
Apple TV stores currently watched movies, frequently listened to music or regularly used applications locally, so you don't have to constantly download your favorite content, but that's when storage size comes into play. Logically, you can "cache" much less data into the 32GB Apple TV than into the 64GB storage, so two factors need to be considered here: how many applications, movies, series, music you use, watch and listen to on a daily basis, and also how fast your internet connection is .
If you're not that heavy a user, don't have a large music library or dozens of games, you can probably get by with the cheaper version. Apple TV will always make sure you have your favorite content ready for quick loading and will reach out to the cloud when needed. If you have a fast internet connection, this is not a problem. Paying an extra 1 crowns and reaching for an Apple TV with a larger capacity is worth it if you are demanding about content of all kinds and don't want to constantly download/stream it from the cloud. Or you simply don't have a suitable connection for it.
is there any application for playing movies with subtitles from NAS?
I wish it would finally be like that
I hope it will be, maybe not right away, but soon.
If you have a Plex Friendly NAS, then Plex and works beautifully :-)
I don't see, I don't see, I run appletv in a caravan (specifically) and it seems to me that they have really gone crazy. Elsewhere, I have about 10 of them and I am completely satisfied, but the idea is that I live somewhere alone and there is only slow internet. In the same way, the absence of a usb port for video conferences with some ordinary (even if they cost 5-10k) camera makes me sick. it would have sold millions just for that.
Add a usb port, I wonder what it will be used for, because the new AppleTV includes a USB-C port if I'm not mistaken.
I mean, I call it advice, a real idiot wouldn't say that. That's right for Mateřídouška.
Will Kodi run on it???
So I called Apple support and they told me that the new Apple TV bought in CR will have Siri and other drivers blocked... So I don't understand why the driver on apple.cz is the same as on the presentation. So I don't order anything and let myself be surprised.
There are two drivers for Apple TV. Siri Remote for countries where it works and Apple TV Remote for the rest of the world where Siri doesn't work. The difference between the two controls should be that the button will either have a microphone image for Siri or another image indicating a text search. But the hardware should be the same, meaning that both the Siri Remote and the Apple TV Remote will have a microphone. So if you use any controller with, for example, a US Apple ID, Siri will work. Not with a Czech account.
It is not 100% certain that there will not be two different hardware versions, because Apple does not write about it anywhere, but it is a very likely scenario. We will know more on Friday.
I specifically asked if Siri would work for me after I bought the product in CR and changed the country of use. The answer was no. If I change the account to, for example, the USA, it doesn't either. So I asked if I should buy an Apple TV in Germany and the answer was yes...
And as for the controller, I asked if it would be completely different from the picture on apple.cz, the answer was yes..
I'm just stating what was answered.
Maybe everything will be as it should be or completely different. But what would be strange if there was something different than what I officially advertise on my website, where there is a new controller with a microphone.
Patek is close, we'll see:0)))
Juraj, we have confirmed that the Apple TV remote is the same in all countries and you just need to switch to a US Apple ID for Siri to work.
Good news!
