At the beginning of the week, a rather funny news appeared on the website that ze brand new Apple Store in Chicago snow is falling from the roof, to such an extent that it was necessary to close some parts of the sidewalk under the roof due to large areas of ice that can be potentially dangerous for pedestrians. The most peppery thing about the whole case is that the Chicago Apple is only a few months old and it is basically a kind of flagship of official Apple stores. That's why many people commented on this case wondering how Apple could have overlooked something like this, especially given the weather in Chicago. Yesterday, an explanation appeared on the web that is quite surprising.

The renowned English studio Foster + Partners is behind the architecture of the Apple Store in Chicago, and it was very difficult to imagine that they forgot something or even missed a detail. On the contrary, the entire building of the shop was built with regard to the weather that occurs in Chicago all year round, i.e. with frequent snowfall. So the current problem is not the architectural design of the building, but a software error.

An Apple spokesperson told The Chicago Tribute that the accumulation of ice and the subsequent fall onto the sidewalk under the roof was due to a software error that handles the heating of the roof structure. Ideally, this should work in such a way that the snow falling on the roof gradually melts and the problem described above does not occur. However, there was some error in the heating settings that did not turn it on, so the snow accumulated on the roof and then began to fall down. At this time, the heating system should be reprogrammed, and the water from the melted snow should flow away through special channels. The lid-shaped roof of the MacBook Air should soon be free of snow again and should not be dangerous for pedestrians below.
