Just naming the company takes courage. Its founder, who is Carl Pei, i.e. the founder of OnePlus, probably does not miss it. So far, he has only one product to his credit, but on the other hand, he also has a promising ensemble of famous names.

Although Nothing was created at the end of last year, it was only announced at the end of January this year. So it is new and quite interesting. Not only by those behind it. Apart from the successful founder, it also includes the former head of OnePlus marketing for Europe, David Sanmartin Garcia, and especially Tony Fadell. He is often referred to as the father of the iPod, but he also participated in the first three generations of the iPhone before he left Apple and founded Nest, where he became CEO.

That was 2010, and a year later the first product came out. It was a smart thermostat. Three years later, Google came and paid $3,2 billion for the Nest brand. For this price, the company only had four years of existence. At the same time, Google still uses the name and refers to its smart products intended for the home. Nevertheless, Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin, Reddit CEO Steve Huffman or YouTuber Casey Neistat also feature in Nothing.

Breaking barriers

So Nothing is not only associated with Apple because of Fadell's name. To some extent, the company's mission is also to blame. This is to remove barriers between people and technology, creating a seamless digital future. It looks a bit like this concept is now being looked at by Zuckerberg with his Meta. However, this is a disproportionately smaller company, but one that has considerably more potential. And also a chance for someone to buy it again.

TWS kicked off its product portfolio with earphones referred to as ear 1. You can buy them for 99 euros (approx. CZK 2) and be sure that you will like them. They have active noise suppression, last 500 hours and their transparent body is very interesting. However, it should not be a simple headphone manufacturer. The plan is to provide the user with a whole extensive ecosystem, so maybe it will also come to mobile phones and even television. After the headphones and their second generation, it should be the first to come Powerbank, and maybe even this year. Nothing wants to rush into the services yet.

Apart from the name, however, the company wants to distinguish itself from others in terms of the appearance of its products. He wants to use custom-made components in individual devices. This is to prevent products from resembling others already on the market. According to Pei, many products share the same hardware, which is why they are so similar. And he wants to avoid that. It will be quite interesting to see where the company's steps will go.
