Apple continues to work on the iCloud Photo Library service, which is still in beta. Newly, photos can now also be uploaded to the cloud service from the web interface iCloud.com, until now it was only possible from iPhones and iPads, and it was only possible to view images on the web.

Cloud storage iCloud Photo Library was supposed to be a novelty in iOS 8, Apple finally launched the service only in iOS 8.1 and really messed with the functionality of the Pictures app. We explain how Pictures work in iOS 8 here, however, Apple changes the features of its services as they go.

But the last change is definitely positive - after the release of iCloud Photo Library I am wrote, that one of the problems is that it is not possible to upload photos to the cloud from other than iPhones and iPads. Now Apple on beta version of iCloud.com started uploading photos from the computer in addition to browsing. However, this is still a very limited issue.

Currently, only images in JPEG format can be uploaded to iCloud Photo Library, and video cannot be uploaded at all. The new Photos application, which will bring iCloud Photo Library integration, will be sorely missed by many. Apple still hasn't given a specific date when it will release the app, so the newly enabled but very limited uploading of images to iCloud Photo Library via the web interface may be the only solution for months to get photos from your computer to the cloud. For example, migration of the iPhoto library is not yet possible.
