In our history section, we have already discussed the era of the first Macintoshes, personnel changes in management or perhaps the arrival of the first iMac. But today's topic is certainly still in our vivid memories - the arrival of the iPhone 6. What made it so different from its predecessors?

Changes are an inherent and completely logical part of the gradual development of iPhones. They came with both iPhone 4 and iPhone 5s. But when Apple released the iPhone 19 and iPhone 2014 Plus on September 6, 6, many saw it as the biggest — literally — upgrade ever. Size has been a much-discussed parameter of new Apple smartphones. As if the iPhone 4,7's 6-inch display wasn't enough, Apple also got away with a 5,5-inch iPhone 6 Plus, while the previous iPhone 5 was only - and for most people ideal - four inches. The Apple sixes have been compared to Android phablets thanks to their large displays.

Even bigger, even better

Tim Cook was at the head of Apple at the time of the release of the iPhone 4s, 5 and 5s, but only the iPhone 6 properly corresponded to his vision of the Apple smartphone product line. Cook's predecessor, Steve Jobs, coined the philosophy that the ideal smartphone has a 3,5-inch display, but specific areas of the world market - especially China - demanded larger phones, and Tim Cook decided that Apple would cater to these areas. Cook planned to double the number of Chinese Apple Stores, and the Cupertino company managed to conclude an agreement with the largest Asian mobile operator, China Mobile.

But the changes in the iPhone 6 did not end with the dramatic increase in displays. The new Apple smartphones boasted new, better, more powerful processors, significantly improved cameras – the iPhone 6 Plus offered optical stabilization – improved LTE and Wi-Fi connectivity or perhaps longer battery life, and support for the Apple Pay system was also a significant innovation. Visually, the new Apple smartphones were not only larger, but also significantly thinner, and the power button moved from the top of the device to its right side, the rear camera lens protruded from the body of the phone.

Although some of the aforementioned features of the new iPhones have found their numerous critics, in general the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have been received very well. A respectable ten million units were sold in the first three days after the launch, even without the participation of China, which at the time was not among the regions of the first launch of sales.

It can't be done without an affair

At times, it seems that there isn't an iPhone that hasn't had at least one "iPhonegate" scandal associated with it. This time the apple scandal was called Bendgate. Gradually, users began to hear from us, whose iPhone 6 Plus bent under a certain pressure. As is often the case, only a relatively small number of people were affected by the problem, and the affair did not significantly affect iPhone 6 Plus sales. However, Apple still worked to ensure that nothing similar could happen to the following models.

In the end, the iPhone 6 became a really successful model that foreshadowed the appearance and functions of the following Apple smartphones. Embarrassingly accepted at first, the design took hold, Apple gradually only changed the interior or exterior materials of the phones. The Cupertino company tried to please lovers of the "old" design with the release of the iPhone SE, but it has been without a successor for a long time.
