Just two months after the launch of Apple Music, key executive Ian Rogers is leaving the California-based company. The former chief executive of Beats Music was one of the main figures behind the birth of round-the-clock Beats 1 radio.

On the departure of Ian Rogers from Apple informed The Financial Times. At the same time, Rogers was in Cupertino for just over a year when he was part of the team last year acquisition of Beats along with others, he moved to Apple to work on a new music streaming service.

Within Apple Music, Rogers headed Beats 1 radio, which is one of the things that sets Apple's service apart from the competition. For these purposes Rogers for example hired acclaimed host Zane Lowe and in the first weeks he and his colleagues for the Internet radio station received generally positive reviews.

That's why his current end at Apple is a surprise. According to The Financial Times Rogers is headed to an unnamed European company that operates in a different industry. Apple confirmed the departure of a key executive, but declined to comment further on the matter.

Rogers' departure is said to have surprised both his colleagues at Apple and music experts who closely follow the development of Apple Music. At the beginning of August, the Californian giant announced that its service used by 11 million people, but bread will not be broken until the end of September. That's when the free music streaming trial will expire, and users will have to start with Apple Music.
