The Chinese company Xiaomi has introduced a new smart watch called Mi Watch, which looks like an Apple Watch. They will start selling for $185 (roughly CZK 5) and will offer a modified Google Wear OS operating system.

At first glance, it is clear where Xiaomi got its inspiration when designing its smart watch. The rounded rectangular display, identical-looking controls and overall visual appearance clearly point to the design elements of the Apple Watch. For Xiaomi products, "inspiration" by Apple is not uncommon, viz. some of their smartphones, tablets or laptops. However, according to the parameters, it might not be a bad watch.

The Mi Watch has an almost 1,8″ AMOLED display with a resolution of 326 ppi, an integrated 570 mAh battery that should reportedly last up to 36 hours, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory. It goes without saying that Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC are supported. The watch also supports eSIM with support for 4th generation networks and has a heart rate sensor.

The software in the watch can be a bit more controversial. In practice, it is a reskinned Google Wear OS, which Xiaomi calls MIUI and which in many ways is strongly inspired by Apple's watchOS. You can see examples in the attached gallery. In addition to the changed design, Xiaomi also modified some of the native Wear OS apps and created some of its own. At the moment, the watch has only started to be sold in the Chinese market, but it can be expected that the company is going to at least bring it to Europe as well.
