We are only one day away from the introduction of new operating systems. On the occasion of tomorrow's WWDC 2020 conference, Apple will reveal the new iOS 14, watchOS 7 and macOS 10.16. As usual, we already have some more detailed information from earlier leaks, according to which we can determine what the Californian giant intends to change or add. So, in today's article, we will look at the things that we expect from the new system for Apple computers.

Better dark mode

Dark Mode first arrived on Macs in 2018 with the arrival of the macOS 10.14 Mojave operating system. But the main problem is that we have only seen one improvement since then. A year later, we saw Catalina, which brought us automatic switching between light and dark mode. And since then? Silence on the footpath. In addition, Dark Mode itself offers a lot of options, which we can see, for example, in various applications from skilled developers. From the new operating system macOS 10.16, we could therefore expect that it will focus on the dark mode in a certain way and bring, for example, improvements to the schedule field, allow us to set Dark Mode only for selected applications and a number of others.

Another application

Another point is again related to macOS 10.15 Catalina, which came with a technology known as Project Catalyst. This allows programmers to quickly convert applications that are primarily intended for iPad to Mac. Of course, many developers did not miss this great gadget, who immediately transferred their applications to the Mac App Store in this way. For example, do you have American Airlines, GoodNotes 5, Twitter, or even MoneyCoach on your Mac? It was precisely these programs that got a look at Apple computers thanks to Project Catalyst. So it would be illogical not to work on this feature further. In addition, there has been talk for a long time about a native Messages app, which has a completely different look on iOS/iPadOS than macOS. Using the aforementioned Project Catalyst technology, the new operating system could bring messages to the Mac as we know them from our iPhones. Thanks to this, we would see a number of functions, among which stickers, audio messages and others are not missing.

Furthermore, there is often talk about the arrival of Abbreviations. Even in this case, Project Catalyst should play a major role, with the help of which we could expect this refined function on Apple computers as well. Shortcuts as such can add a number of excellent options to us, and once you learn to use them, you definitely won't want to be without them.

Design unification with iOS/iPadOS

Apple differentiates its products from the competition not only by functionality, but also by design. In addition, no one can deny that the Californian giant is relatively unified in terms of design, and as soon as you see one of its products, you can immediately determine whether it is Apple. The same song revolves around operating systems and their functions. But here we can very quickly run into a problem, especially when we look at iOS/iPadOS and macOS. Some applications, although they are completely the same, have different icons. In this regard, we could mention, for example, programs from the Apple iWork office suite, Mail or the aforementioned News. So why not unify it and make it easier for users who are wading into the waters of the apple ecosystem for the very first time? It would be very nice to see if Apple itself would pause on this and try for some kind of unification.

Low power mode

I'm sure you've been in a situation more than once when you needed to work on your Mac, but the battery percentage was running out faster than you imagined. For this problem, there is a feature called Low Power Mode on our iPhones and iPads. It can deal with "cutting down" the performance of the device and limiting some functions, which can save the battery quite well and give it some extra time before it is completely discharged. It certainly wouldn't hurt if Apple tried to implement a similar feature in macOS 10.16. Additionally, the vast majority of users could benefit from this feature. For example, we can cite university students who devote themselves to their studies during the day, after which they immediately rush to work. However, an energy source is not always available, and battery life thus becomes directly crucial.

Reliability above all

We love Apple mainly because it brings us very reliable products. For this reason, most users have decided to switch to the Apple platform. So we expect not only macOS 10.16, but all upcoming systems to offer us excellent reliability. Above all, Macs can undoubtedly be described as work tools for which proper functionality and functionality are absolutely key. At the moment we can only hope. Every mistake detracts from the beauty of Macs and makes us uncomfortable to use them.
