Augmented reality apps are slowly multiplying on the Appstore. Today I will draw your attention to the well-known application Wikitude, which after the Android platform has also arrived on the iPhone 3GS. Her greatest asset? It's completely free, so everyone can try augmented reality on their iPhone 3GS.

I already mentioned Wikitude in one from earlier articles on augmented reality. Augmented reality adds man-made objects to the camera image, in the case of Wikitude these are Wikipedia, Wikitude.me and Qype tags with labels of what they are. After clicking on the mark, you will see a box with additional information about the given place.

In Wikitude, you can set how far away you want the information to be displayed. You can thus set, for example, 1km and wander around Prague looking for monuments - you will also have it with a guide. There is also a built-in browser to display the complete article from Wikipedia. Here, however, it would be appropriate to format the content for the iPhone and not to display the classic Wikipedia page.

Of course, iPhone 3G owners can't try the app because it lacks a compass for orientation in space. Wikitude is definitely an interesting venture that is worth at least trying. Since the application is free, I definitely recommend it to everyone.
