But when will iOS 17.4 be released and what news will the next version of this mobile system bring?
The first iOS 17.4 beta hasn't been released to developers yet, so we don't know what new features it will contain. However, Apple could still release it this week or next week, revealing the cards considerably. By March 6, 2024, it must comply with the EU law on digital markets, which, among other things, requires it to allow applications to be installed on its iPhones in a different way than just from the App Store.

Considering that we don't have much time left until the beginning of March, it is quite likely that Apple will prepare for so-called sideloading and alternative stores with digital content already now, that is, with iOS 17.4. But it does not mean that the first beta must contain an alternative store or alternative options for purchasing applications and games. It is not even entirely clear whether this option will be offered only in EU countries or uniformly everywhere, so perhaps even at home in the USA.
Apple now has no bed of roses with the EU. Regulation is certainly a dirty and forbidden word for him. Not only did the EU lose Lightning in iPhones, make third-party payment apps accessible to the NFC chip, and have to accept RCS in iMessage, but also have to say goodbye to App Store exclusivity. No wonder he fought against it as much as possible in the past years. In 2021, even Tim Cook stated that "sideloading apps would destroy iPhone security and many of the privacy initiatives we've built into the App Store."
