On both iPhone and iPad, it is possible to delete in several applications by swiping over the given content - usually from right to left. With this feature, you can delete your Mail inbox, as well as content in native Messages, Notes, and more. This is a useful feature that many users have gotten used to and use. But what to do when the gesture delete does not work, and instead of deleting, a completely different action occurs?

Fortunately, gesture deletion works in the vast majority of cases. Sometimes, however, it can happen that, for example, in native Mail, you slide your finger over a selected message from right to left, and instead of deleting it, it will be archived. How to proceed to actually delete the given content by swiping, and not just move it to the Archive folder?

Enabling the swipe-to-delete feature may seem quite complicated to some at first glance. While you can change the action on the swipe feature (such as archive and mark as read), it's not possible to set one of them as a swipe-to-delete option. But in fact, you can still use the swipe-to-delete feature in native Mail on your iPhone, even if it's not immediately available. Here's how to do it.

  • Launch the native Mail app on your iPhone.
  • Carefully swipe from right to left after the message you want to delete.
  • Choose from the options that appear Další.
  • Slide the tab that appears at the bottom of the screen and tap Discard message.
  • You should then immediately find the message in the folder Basket.

Some users complain that it is more difficult to swipe to delete a message or other content when using Mail and other apps, so they are looking for user-friendly alternatives. The good news is that you can use a simple checkbox if you want, and the following procedure will work for both Mail and Messages.

  • In the selected application, tap Adjust – this option should appear in the upper right corner of the display.
  • You should see to the left of the messages checkbox.
  • Check the messages you want to delete.
  • Tap on the bar at the bottom of the display Move.
  • Choose Move Messages -> Trash.

Swiping is an easy way to delete messages and e-mails, but some applications make this gesture unnecessarily complicated or assign multiple actions to it. So, for some users, the swipe gesture in the final can be rather confusing, and it may seem that it doesn't really work. The truth is that the native Mail in iOS is not exactly twice as user-friendly in this regard. We hope these tips have helped you use the swipe removal tool more effectively.
