In connection with Apple and artificial intelligence, many say that the Cupertino company is slightly behind its competitors in this regard. Tim Cook this week decided to refute those claims with a report on what Apple is already using AI for. In addition to this topic, today's summary will talk about a new phishing attack and the upcoming WWDC conference.

Apple's use of AI

Tim Cook recently revealed at a Chinese conference that despite rumors that Apple has "missed the train" with artificial intelligence, it is actually already using AI. Just maybe not where you'd expect it. According to Cook, the Cupertino company is currently using artificial intelligence to help it move towards carbon neutrality, particularly in the areas of materials recovery and recycling. "Without AI, we wouldn't be able to get the amount of material we get for recycling today," stated, and also revealed that it is not far behind industry in the use and development of artificial intelligence, but that artificial intelligence is already deeply rooted in society, which is a business benefit for itself.

Phishing attack on Apple users

Another phishing attack targets Apple device users. However, in contrast to typical-looking fraudulent messages and e-mails, these are system notifications that appear relatively credible. KrebsOnSecurity reported that attackers are apparently exploiting a flaw in the Apple ID password recovery feature. Affected users not only receive constant and tedious prompts to reset their password on the display, but in some cases they may also receive phone calls. Prompts always appear on all devices that are signed in to the same Apple ID account.

Apple has announced the date of WWDC

As many expected, during the past week Apple also revealed, among other things, when this year's WWDC developer conference will be held. The 35th edition of the WWDC conference will take place this time from June 10 to 14, with the opening presentation taking place as always on the first day of the conference. WWDC will traditionally include online sessions and various workshops, during the first evening there will be an official presentation of the new operating systems from Apple's workshop, i.e. iOS 18, iPadOS 18, tvOS 18, macOS 15, watchOS 11 and visionOS 2.
